General Responsibilities
The American Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter, in support of the Providence EMA, needs individuals to provide emergency relief to disaster victims. Disaster team members are on a rotating shift, responding to house fires, weather emergencies and other disasters.
Training
Approximately 20 hours of training is required. Volunteers will be trained, free of charge, in First Aid, CPR and other disaster courses. Specific courses follow; Intro to Disaster Services/Incident Command System, Community First Aid & Safety -- Adult/Infant/Child CPR with AED, Mass Care: An Overview, Shelter Operations, and Shelter Simulation in Community Shelter.
